When I tell someone I study Oceanography with French, the response is always “wow, thats a weird mix!” But this is why it opens so many doors for me! It has allowed me to study in the beautiful city of Bordeaux, where I have met so many great people, including new researchers and professors with interesting fields of research that I may never have come across at home. It has allowed me to do modules that were not available to me in England, do field trips in some very beautiful places, and given me the opportunity to do a placement in a foreign country. Thanks to this degree I have become more independent, my french language skills have improved tenfold, I have contacts in both humanities and ocean science departments in both England and France and I have had an absolutely brilliant time!
